Chengde was a favourite resort for Qing Dynasty Emperors - so much so that it became the summer capital for much of this period.
This Journey is intended as an extension to our other options. It therefore starts with a transfer from your hotel in Beijing to the railway station.
We include two nights out at Chengde, the Qing Dynasty summer capital for an unhurried look at this extensive site.
We have also included a night in Beijing on your return as we will arrive too late to plan on further travel that evening.
Maximum Group Size: we strongly believe that the coherence of the group is important, especially at mealtimes. We therefore limit the number of travellers to 10. This allows the group, with their guide, to sit comfortably at one table in most Chinese establishments.
