Our take on local travel issues
We are small enough to offer a personal touch - but work with a large agency in China so that you can be assured of key services throughout China.
China Journeys: a bridge between West and East
We offer a range of Extra Services in support of our Journeys, Reviews and Extensions. These allow you to put together a complete package that covers your travel plans from arrival to departure - if that is what you would like. These are optional extras for your convenience only; you are free to make other arrangements if you wish.
The costs of Extra Services relevant to any one journey are shown on the Extensions and Extras tab of that itinerary.
We offer extra nights in the each of the cities where we start or end our standard packages. We can also arrange hotels in most other places given sufficient notice.
In most cases we will be able to book you into the same room that you will use on your main Journey. The more notice we have the more chance that this can be the case.
If we cannot get the same room we will provide one of the same standard or better at no extra charge. In the rare event that this has to be in another hotel we will cover the cost of a taxi transfer between the hotels.
We can arrange for you to have extra private excursions with your own English-speaking guide, with or without driver, for any days that you have spare. You will probably appreciate this service more before the start of a journey than after.
We can book domestic flights and outbound flights on your behalf. These are now almost all e-ticket reservations and so easily managed once we have your passport details. If you let us know your route and preferred time we will let you know the most suitable flight options.
Buying train tickets in China can be problematic and time-consuming. We can arrange tickets for you through our network of local agents. Let us know your route and any preferences.
If you have any other special requests then please do not hesitate to Contact Us. We will try our best to find a solution.

Yes - it is. To prevent touts from buying up the full allocation through the new online system it is now necessary to have a copy of some valid identification for the intended traveller(s) in order to purchase tickets. In theory this should be matched to the tickets during the journey as a check. There is no reason you could not go to a station with your passport (and a copy in case they want it for their records) and buy a ticket yourself. Many visitors do prefer the convenience of a local travel service as the fees are low and this frees up time that can then be spent sightseeing. The decision depends on your time available and budget.

We keep reading conflicting information about buying train tickets. Is it still possible for independdent travelers to buy their own?
